Starting in Dallas this morning, I took a very, very long drive west through Texas. From what I saw, Texas has three things: Oil riggs, cotton fields, and rattlesnakes! That is, until you get to Amarillo. Amarillo had a few interesting things.
Oil riggs aren't something we see every day.
There were miles and miles of beautiful cotton fields. This, apparently, is a big problem in Texas.
Now, once you hit Amarillo, things get interesting!
For example, you can go to the Jesus Christ Travel Center.
(Who knew He ran a travel center?)
Or, you can have a 72oz. steak at the Big Texan (no charge for the heart attack). As a vegetarian, this place was a little challenging to eat at!
There was no shortage of dead animal heads in the place!
After you hogg-out at the Big Texan, you can go over and look at the row of Cadillacs half-buried in a cow pasture.
And, what could be better than a good night's sleep at the Bates Motel?
A sweet little family of deer
(definitely the best part of Texas!)
